Hello
As I write this, I’ve just passed the quarter way mark on my latest Quest: 100 places, 300 pages. So fun. I am excited to do 75 more.

For those who are wondering what this entails, I described the whys and the whats here.
And today I’ll share some highlights and learnings so far, in case they're helpful to you.
BUT FIRST…
QUEST-ions
I have a question for you.
✨This is a treasure brought back by one of my Questful participants. What do you think it might be?✨
Take a guess, and I’ll reveal all below.
Questful Quotes
‘Quests are the best!’ — Danielle, aka me
100 places, 300 pages is my 4th Quest. It’ll take me just over 2 years to complete. And it is 100 times more fun than the dry-old-stick-beat-y way that I used to set goals and try to improve myself.
Here are just a few of the highlights and learnings so far:
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
🖊️1. It takes me a leisurely 30 minutes to write my 3 pages (unless I’m sat on a bench, in an area that is high-density-dogs. Always stop what you’re doing to love a dog!) This has been a wonderful balance of highly doable and rewarding.

I did describe this statue and surrounding area, but amidst saying hello to a lot of dogs!
🖊️2. Four of my Quests took place in my own home, and were still super fun and interesting to do. It was a whole new way of seeing things right under my nose.
🖊️3. I LOVE the construct of describing what I can sense (see, hear, smell) for 2 pages. Then switching it up for the final page to stretch out with a different point of view.
🖊️4. Experimenting with point-of-view in this way is a rich experiment. For example, I’ve done it through the eyes of: a pigeon, a potential house buyer, a traffic warden, and someone who knows they only have 2 days left to live.
🖊️5. It’s such a good excuse to have a slightly weird adventure—I did one sat in an Ikea showroom.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
🖊️6. If you’re feeling like, huh, not sure I understand this point-of-view thing…here’s an example from said Ikea fake room.
1st line from the 2-page description:This room is a concoction of greens.
1st line from the point-of-view switch: She couldn’t marry a man who wanted a living room like this—sitting in the wingback chair while she sat on the sofa, with only pillows for friends.

🖊️7. I have never once felt lonely doing a Quest. I feel an intense connection to my surroundings, and it’s really fun.
🖊️8. There’s also nothing to stop you adventuring with someone else. As described here, I invited my husband to come along for my Amazon warehouse visit.
❗🧐❗9. Maybe don’t write your 3 pages in red pen. 3 pages of red scrawl is a vibe, and pretty hard to read!
🖊️10. It continues to shock me how much of a difference this small amount of Quest time makes: to how alive I feel, and how I’m experiencing the world.
Quests are literally the best.
Gems:
Right, back to that sound!
That sound is a wave crashing, in reverse.
It’s part of a very fun songwriting Quest, for one of my Questful participants. I’ve been suggesting a range of prompts, and some have been linked to places—e.g. the beach, and the mall.
I love that he shared this treasure with us. I also asked him what has surprised him most about doing a Quest.
‘It challenges the way that I normally think about doing goals, and the process of achieving a goal. It keeps pulling me back to finding a way to enjoy it, which is not my normal default.’
Yaaaaaass!
Ditto.
And this is absolutely at the heart of a Questful approach.

Gentle prompt:
My prompt to you this month is this question:
‘What’s one thing you’d love to explore, just because…’
Just because you’re curious, or it might be fun, or you’ve wondered about it. Just because…
What if it made your day a little more interesting? Or helped you feel a little more alive.
What if this really matters?
It does.
And I say this as a hyper-responsible person, with plenty of work and home life considerations. (2 of my place Quests were done on hospital wards, waiting for loved ones. They made that time a little more Questful.)
‘What’s one thing you’d love to explore, just because…’
Any questions about anything Questful, you can find me right here…
Until next time,
